Unlocking: Drew Dapps

Drew started writing songs as a kid and knew early that music was his calling. After bouncing through genres, he found his direction in minimal house, drawn to a philosophy of doing more with less.

He's watched the local scene grow quickly, with venues like Nova and Bloom bringing in touring DJs and smaller spots like Office Bar and Grass Skirt giving room to up and coming locals. Coming up first as a hip hop producer, he brought that genre's branding instincts into house music, including a DIY USB skateboard merch drop loaded with tracks and unreleased rarities.

His favorite venues to play are the ones with an immersive theme, and off nights he's usually wherever his friends are playing, often Spin or Bang Bang. He names EDM Identity, Afternoon Umbrella Friends and Homegrown as brands to watch, and Matt Egbertt, Shuski, Sly Turner and Casmalia as artists to watch.

Creativity loves limitations, and that anything is possible.

Looking ahead, he's focused on more releases, free downloads, and expanding his Dapps Apparel merch line, with a dream booking at Thuishaven in Amsterdam.
