Unlocking: Jenny Voss

Music has run in Jenny's family for generations, and she spent years fronting a cover band around San Diego before house music pulled her in a new direction. She is developing her own sound she calls Romantic House, a mix of piano house, soulful house, latin house, R&B house and disco house, built around love, sex and magic.

She works with In The Bag Productions as a vocalist, DJ and producer while also working full time in real estate, describing it as feeling like three full time jobs. She has learned to be selective with her energy, going out less than she used to in order to make space for what lights her up.

Her favorite venue to play is Spin Nightclub, which she calls home. She names DJ Susan as a mentor and top of her list of ones to watch, alongside Chris Diaz, Maximo, Burko, DGTL CLR, and a group of women in the scene including Blue Jade, Lady K, Almost Nakey and Golden Girl.

Those three hours a week I get in the studio or at a show make the other 40 to 60 hours of the work week so worth it.

Her future plans include finishing an EP, getting booked at bigger events with her DJ duo Voss & Things, and DJing more locally as a solo act. Her dream booking is the Defected Festival in Croatia.
