Chase and Kyle, the San Diego based DJ and producer duo known as Kashed, on how they met, how they work together, and what's next.

Kyle explained his musical journey this way: he always had a love for music and wanted to be more involved in it, but as just a listener he never really knew exactly in what way. Chase described discovering electronic music in high school through artists like Martin Garrix and Odesza, buying equipment in 2016, and eventually treating music as a potential career path during college.

The pair met at the University of Oregon and began collaborating, with Chase focused on DJing and Kyle on production. They chose their name somewhat arbitrarily, admitting they kind of forgot exactly where it came from, and liked how the letters looked together.

A performance at Revel Revel in downtown San Diego influenced their decision to relocate to the city. They discuss the benefits of their duo partnership, including accountability and creative collaboration, while noting that it can get pretty tough at times to stay optimistic and motivated.

They highlight San Diego's thriving dance music community, citing supportive local artists and excellent venues like Nova, and close with recommendations for emerging local talent and a look ahead at their upcoming out of state performances and music releases.
