Poppa grew up surrounded by music, from Kid Cudi in grade school to Skrillex and Flume in middle school, and picked up DJing in college after throwing parties with friends. He gravitated toward tech house for its groove and grittiness, and has been experimenting with minimal house as well, while keeping room to explore other genres.

Born and raised in San Diego, he sets are still mostly local, and his process starts with long crate digging sessions to find both current tracks and hidden gems, plus regular solo practice sets at home. His dream venue is Waterfront Park, home of CRSSD, and on weekends off he's usually at Bang Bang.

He points to Kashed and the YoonFest crew as ones to watch, and his near term goals are learning as much as he can about the culture, releasing music more consistently, and growing his discography.
